Company Profile: ThinkHost – progressive web hosting company

ThinkHost, Inc. is a debt-free, privately owned USA based progressive company providing quality web site hosting services powered by 100% renewable energy to a global market. ThinkHost, Inc. was founded in 1999 by Vladislav Davidzon, an experienced technical professional and peace advocate.

Our objectives

This is best summed up by our mission statement and by our Executive Director, Vladislav Davidzon:

“I founded the company based on 3 simple principles – Honesty, Integrity and Trust. I’m proud to say that while we have grown substantially over the years, we have not outgrown the original ThinkHost objectives – and never will.”

We take our responsibility to our clients, to positive social change, the environment and assisting the community very seriously. These are more than just words, but a demonstrated commitment from Vladislav and Team ThinkHost.

Rapid growth, sensible approach

In just under a year from launch, we achieved profitability and have remained that way ever since. Unlike many of our competitors, ThinkHost carries no debt and Mr. Davidzon fully intends on keeping ThinkHost running under private ownership for the foreseeable future.

As we’ve grown, we’ve maintained a focus on fine tuning our services, helping the planet and giving back to the community, rather than chasing fast money. Being a privately owned business, we’ve never needed to concern ourselves with impressing shareholders – just the people who really matter – our clients.

Progressive, striving and dedicated

Today, ThinkHost, Inc. is a leader in environmentally friendly web hosting, specializing in extremely reliable, well-supported hosting solutions for hobbyists, community groups, small and medium sized businesses, providing stable support for technologies such as PHP, MySQL and Microsoft FrontPage.

Our services are backed by an outsourced network and a dedicated, caring team of support engineers located in various countries around the world. Our clients hail from many points on the planet, including North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Australia. ThinkHost, Inc. is truly an international company.

With an excellent infrastructure, reasonable prices, our client incentive, reseller and affiliate programs, ThinkHost, Inc. continues to offer an unbeatable solution to the needs of small and medium sized business, as well as those of personal and non-profit sites.

ThinkHost, Inc. in the community

As much as ThinkHost’s continued growth and success is important to the company, Mr. Davidzon understands that giving something back to the community is equally as important. As part of our social responsibility commitment and goal of becoming the world’s foremost progressive web hosting company, ThinkHost, Inc. provides sponsored and discounted web hosting services to community groups as well as supporting progressive organizations in a variety of ways.

We listen to our clients

Our clients are our reason for existing – we never forget that. ThinkHost’s growth has been a direct result of encouraging and acting upon client feedback and Vladislav Davidzon’s vision of ThinkHost evolving not just into a green host, but beyond green through our social change programs. This approach has seen like-minded people from all over the world joining us, not just for the excellent standard of hosting, but also participating in the good that we do.

“We look forward to welcoming you as one of our valued clients and joining us as we strive together for a fairer, gentler and greener world. Please continue browsing our site and learn more about why ThinkHost, Inc. is simply the smart choice; or contact us with any questions – we’d love to hear from you!”

Advantages & Disadvantages Of Free or paid web hosting

Just ended your primary website? So it’s the time to seem for some hosting and make a choice. Your first question almost certainly will be whether to choose free or paid hosting service.

Let’s have a look at some Advantages and disadvantages of these solutions.

Free web hosting:

Advantages:

(1). It’s for free. You don’t need to pay for domain name.

Disadvantages

(1). Your URL will be something like username.freehost.com or freehost.com/username. As I noticed above, the advantage is that you don’t need to pay for domain. But note that if you move your website to another provider in the future you can loose Some or all your traffic (there are some solutions how to solve this problem but it is not the point of this article).

(2).Your provider will probably include ads to your pages – usually 1 or 2 banners, sometimes popup windows. If you plan to use banner exchange on your site read carefully their Terms and conditions. Some free hosts don’t allow it.

(3). Free hosts usually allow lower bandwidth then paid hosts and a lot of them don’t offer futures like PHP and MySQL.

(4). A lot of free hosts changes their Terms and conditions during some time. If your free host offers hosting without ads now, don’t be surprised when banner or popup appears on your site in the future.

(5). Sometimes happens that free hosts cancel their free service and longer offer paid hosting only. In this case you have only 2 choices – pay them or loose your website.

Paid web hosting:

Advantages

(1). You can host your own domain. If you decide to change the web hosting provider in the future, you easily transfer the domain to the new provider and don’t loose your traffic.

(2). Most paid hosts offer 24/7 support via email or live chat and some of them provide toll-free phone support.

(3). You can expect better uptime then on free host. Some paid hosts offer uptime guarantee.

(4). Paid hosts usually offer enough disk space and bandwidth. Futures like PHP and MySQL are standard. Even if you are not programmer you can download plenty of free PHP scripts from internet.

Disadvantages

(1). Paid hosting coast money

Before you make the decision if choose free or paid host you should answer this question:

How big ambitions do I have with my website? If you are starting small personal page for your friends consist of a few *.html files then free host will be sufficient. In case you plan to run serious business website, need PHP, database and don’t want ads on the site I counsel to look for excellence paid host.

Want To get Free Web hosting? Read This Steps

Free Web hosting

Everyone’s on the Internet these days–from grandmother’s distribution recipes to the kid down the street whose website details her baby-sit services. Take the plunge and set up a website of your own–you won’t have to pay a cent. Many companies offer free web hosting. Whether you want to promote your business or just stay in touch with friends, getting a free website is just a few clicks away. Read on to learn how to get free web hosting.

(1). Check whether your Internet service supplier already offers you a free website. Many times the company that connects you to the Internet not only gives you several email addresses with your account, but also gives you web space. If your ISP does offer web hosting, get the specifics of the deal–although there’s no extra charge, you might end up with a tough limit on space or a long, clumsy URL.

(2). Use popular free web hosting companies like Bravenet, Geocities through Yahoo! and FreeWebs. Before you sign up, get the details on what exactly you’re getting for free. Sometimes you’ll get a page on the host’s huge directory of websites for free, but if you want your own domain name, you’ll have to pay. Other times both the domain name and hosting will be free–for a trial period.

(3). Open a MySpace or Facebook account if you want free web hosting for personal use. You can customize your profile to contain the information you want to share. If you need a website for professional reasons, stick with free web hosting companies.

(4). Compare the options offered by your ISP, free web hosting businesses and websites like MySpace. See which package best fits your needs. Take into account whether your free website includes banner ads, links to advertising or will have a lengthy, hard to keep in mind URL. Choose the program that best suits your needs.

(5). Follow directions to set up your website. Many companies offer free design templates as well to make your little slice of the Internet as good-looking and easy to navigate as likely.

Tips: firstly, free websites often have little or no tech support and might not be as reliable as web hosting companies that require payment. Secondly you might end up with very low Internet security plus unwanted spam emails as a result of signing up for a free website.
